… It is the beginning of the 50-es. Four student
friends live in one country students’ hostel of The College of Art. Although
they are often hungry but cheerful: playing jokes and pranks on one
another and the many other inhabitants of the hostel and certainly, they
are falling in love.
In a word, their life is in
full swing with passions and jokes typical for daily life and customs of the
hungry students’ Bohemia in those post-war years. And what a wonderful game
began when a brilliant idea came to their minds of using in their practical
jokes a radio set and Rybrin’s talent to imitate remarkably the voice of the
well-known announcer. Indeed that was the cleverest and exciting game they ever
had! However they have forgotten about the horrible times they are
living…
Poet Yevgeny Yevtushenko says:
It is one of the warm-blooded films rare in our days – in has a human body
temperature. For a long time in no genre, I was meeting such an overflow of love
to people. Seeing this picture, you are laughing with not stultifying but
intelligent
laughter and crying with purifying ennoble tears.
This film is a jolly and frightful excursion to our generation’s youth offered to the today’s youth. Though the picture end is chilling and freezing, I am sure that the film with its adoration of life can save many modern young people from suicide or cynicism.
