The film “LIFE IS FULL OF GAMES” is a tragicomedy
by its genre. The scene is set in 90-th years of the 20-th
century.
Provincial town not far from Moscow. Several
families live here in one big communal flat. Every family has its own anxieties,
interests, misfortunes and joys.
Communal is not
only social environment. It is a certain section cut of
society.
All the members of this communal “hostel”
are quite different: intellectual Vera and narrow-minded Larisa, old pensioners
living the rest of their days, and invalid Lira dreaming of happy life in
distant Australia, heartless clerk Bozhok and young researcher Viktor forced to
earn additionally as a tutor. However their fates are inseparably linked with
events and knotty collisions, happening in the country, with sensations of
instability, fear, anxious expectation: something should occur.
Facing ordeals the characters of the communal inmates are illuminated differently. One’s past will force them to look at each other in a new way, to became cleaner, better, to find hope.
And moreover this reel is about love, about beauty of a woman’s soul.
A song with verses of Grigory Pozhenyan sounds at the end as leitmotif of the film:
It needs somebody to love someone
Stout, skinny, lonely, unwell,
Timid, sick, it needs without fail,
It needs somebody to love someone…
